The NFPA 921 Fire Investigator Course is a comprehensive program designed to equip professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct thorough investigations into fire and explosion incidents.

Led by experienced instructors and esteemed experts in the field, this intensive training course combines theoretical concepts with practical hands-on exercises, enabling participants to develop a solid foundation in fire investigation techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to work with fellow professionals, engage in case studies, and view a live burn, during which they will work in teams to examine and determine the cause of fire scenarios.

This course will cover the requirements outlined in NFPA 921, including:

  • Scene Documentation & Evidence Excavation/Recovery
  • Best Practices, Spoliation & Exhibits

  • Vehicle Fire Investigations

Upon successful completion of the training course, participants will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct systematic and scientifically sound fire and explosion investigations and pursue certification as fire and explosion investigators.

November 4-6: NFPA 921 Theory and Case Studies

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

November 7: Burn Cell Investigations

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (+1 day)

November 8: Optional Exam


Who Should Attend

This course has been designed for individuals pursuing CFEI certification and those interested in expanding their knowledge and furthering their careers in this field.

CFEI Examination

Qualified participants, upon successful completion of the program, will have the opportunity to write an examination. Upon passing the exam, CFEI certification will be issued by NAFI.

  • Participants who wish to write the exam are responsible for submitting the exam application to Origin and Cause by October 1, 2024 in order for applications to be reviewed by NAFI
  • Origin and Cause will facilitate the proctoring of the exam in our office in Ancaster, ON
  • Please note: all exam applicants must be NAFI members

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Registered students may cancel any time before October 4 for a full refund. After October 4, a refund will be issued in the form of a credit to be used towards a future course.

Origin and Cause reserves the right to cancel seven days prior to any course in which the minimum registration is not achieved.
