Fire Pump & Water Supplies for Fire Protection
All water-based fire protection systems have one thing in common, they need water.
A connection to a public water supply is acceptable only if a water flow test or other approved method determines that volume exceeds peak demand. There are several other considerations that can help in the decision-making process of selecting an appropriate water supply, including: Corrosion, zebra mussels/microbiological corrosion, dirty water, pressure variances, automatic water supplies, and reliability.
A fire pump is required when the available water source does not have adequate pressure. Due to the critical importance of the fire pump, careful consideration should be employed during the selection and design process.
Failures of these systems can occur as a result of improper manufacturing, mechanical damage or human related factors such as installation or maintenance problems. Our group can assess theses systems and determine what caused the failure and assign responsibilities.
