In the Lab With Origin and Cause: Destructive Testing

April 27, 2017

Watch the webinar below

For the first instalment of our new webinar series, In the Lab, we’re going behind the scenes with forensic engineer, Mazen Habash as he conducts destructive testing on household items, followed by a live Q&A.

Equipment and product failures are far too common an occurrence. They can lead to serious injury and property loss, expensive insurance claims, and complicated legal proceedings. When a product liability claim is made, the principal consideration is to establish cause: First, so that the claim can be approved or denied, and second, so that a potential course of subrogation can be pursued. Destructive testing allows us to determine how and why a failure occurred.

  • Was there a manufacturing defect?
  • Was there a design deficiency?
  • Was the product misused or abused?
  • Was there an installation error?
  • Is there any evidence of negligence?

In our upcoming webinar we will begin by burning a stove, followed by a series of destructive tests where you will learn:

  • How a forensic engineer conducts a destructive test
  • Common component failures
  • The process of documenting evidence
  • How our engineers arrive at their technical opinion.

Recommended for:

  • Insurance adjusters
  • Lawyers
